This January, the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center is offering free admission to visitors all month long. Whether you’ve never been or are looking to return, this is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in powerful stories of resilience and hope.
The Holocaust & Humanity Center and the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati announced earlier this month a transformative endowed gift from the Schneider family, which will fund an initiative to expand access to the Center’s museum into perpetuity.
The “Anita & Hank Schneider Family Holocaust Remembrance Month,” enabled by the endowed gift, will allow the Holocaust & Humanity Center to offer free general public admission every January.
The month coincides with United Nations International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Center’s anniversary of its opening at historic Union Terminal more than five years ago. In an effort to address the unprecedented rise in Holocaust denial and antisemitism, the Holocaust & Humanity Center waived museum ticket fees last January and saw record attendance and wide support from the community.
Here’s everything you need to know about this incredible opportunity.
1. Free Admission Every Day in January
Mark your calendars! Throughout the entire month of January, the Holocaust & Humanity Center at Union Terminal is waiving admission fees for the general. This generous offering, made possible by the Schneider family, is a chance for everyone in the community to explore the museum, reflect on the lessons of the Holocaust, and connect with stories of survival and the power of humanity.
2. Discover Powerful Personal Stories
The museum is home to impactful exhibits that bring to life the stories of Holocaust survivors and witnesses who settled in Cincinnati. As you move through the galleries, you’ll hear firsthand testimonies, see artifacts, and engage with immersive exhibits that illuminate the dangers of hatred and the strength of the human spirit.
3. Explore Cincinnati’s Connections to the Holocaust
The Holocaust & Humanity Center highlights not just global history, but Cincinnati’s unique role in it. From local Holocaust survivors to the community’s ongoing commitment to fighting hate and promoting justice, visitors will learn about Cincinnati’s ties to these important narratives.
4. Make It a Family Experience
This January, take advantage of free admission to share a meaningful and educational day with your family. The museum offers resources and guidance for engaging young learners with sensitive topics in a thoughtful way, allowing families to explore these important lessons together. 5. Plan Your Visit to Union Terminal
Located inside Cincinnati’s historic Union Terminal, the Holocaust & Humanity Center is easily accessible and offers a stunning environment for visitors. In 2019, the Center relocated to the prominent and historic Cincinnati landmark, Union Terminal – the very place where thousands of local Holocaust survivors arrived by train from war-torn Europe to rebuild their lives. The iconic train terminal is also home to the Cincinnati Museum Center. Union Terminal is a landmark in its own right, so be sure to explore the beautiful architecture while you’re there. Plus, the surrounding museums offer plenty of other ways to make it a full day of learning and exploration.
This January, make time to experience the Holocaust & Humanity Center — a space where the past informs the present and where every visitor has the opportunity to leave inspired to make a difference. We look forward to welcoming you!
The free ticketing initiative applies to general admission tickets only for the month of January. Group tours and field trips can be booked online for regular pricing. The Center is located inside historic Union Terminal, and the museum is open to the public Thursdays through Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
