CINCINNATI, OHIO – August 1, 2024 – The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center is proud to announce that two staff members will participate in the 11th International Summer Academy (ISA) organized by the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust (ICEAH).

Trinity Johnson, Director of Holocaust Programs & Museum Experiences, and Cori Silbernagel, Director of Collections & Exhibitions, will travel to Poland this week to attend the academy. This prestigious educational opportunity will be hosted from August 3 to August 9, 2024, and offers a unique opportunity for educators, historians, and professionals dedicated to Holocaust studies.

The International Summer Academy provides an immersive educational experience centered around the history and legacy of Auschwitz and the Holocaust. Participants will engage in an in-depth exploration of the Auschwitz Memorial. The program also features visits to the Archives, Collections, and Conservation Laboratory of the Museum, along with lectures and presentations from leading experts in the field.

In addition to their time at the Auschwitz Memorial, participants will spend two days in Kraków, where they will learn about the city’s history during the German occupation and the experiences of Kraków’s Jewish community throughout the centuries. The Academy’s curriculum is designed to foster a deeper understanding of the Holocaust’s impact and its relevance to contemporary society through discussions and educational sessions.

Johnson and Silbernagel were selected based on their exemplary dedication to Holocaust education and their significant contributions to our organization’s mission. Their participation in this Academy underscores the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center’s commitment to advancing historical knowledge and fostering informed discussions about the Holocaust.

“We are honored to have Cori and Trinity represent our organization by participating in this esteemed program,” said Jackie Congedo, incoming Chief Executive Officer at the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center. “Their involvement in the International Summer Academy reflects our ongoing commitment to Holocaust education while providing our team with transformative learning experiences that enhance their expertise and will help drive impactful educational initiatives and approaches here in Cincinnati.”

Johnson and Silbernagel will share their experiences with constituents when they return in mid-August.
